Criteria vary: GPA, need, service, leadership, and major.
Who should apply?
Full-time undergraduate students enrolled for 14 or more credit hours and declared majors in the college.
Full-time undergraduate transfer students enrolled for 14 or more credit hours who have been admitted to BYU and declared majors in the college.
Who should not apply?
Part-time students taking .5-11.5 credit hours Fall/Winter semesters. University policy states undergraduates must carry 14 hours to be eligible for scholarship assistance in Fall/Winter.
Students who have been awarded 8 semesters of scholarships, excluding Spring and Summer Terms.
Students who will have over 160 total hours after the current Winter Semester, excluding Advanced Placement credit and Foreign Language credit.
Students who have a Monson Presidential Scholarship, a Heritage Scholarship, or a National Merit Scholarship.
Students who have already received a University Scholarship award from BYU (two semesters, full tuition) for the upcoming academic year.
- To be considered for a financial need-based scholarship, submit the BYU application for Federal Financial Aid. NOTE: You may return to this online application and edit your information any time before the deadline.
- Applications are due by March 1 of each year and are awarded for the following academic year.
- Contact your major department for information on any other scholarships available.
