NASA Space Grant Fellowships

As part of its goal to promote student development in space-related research, the BYU Rocky Mountain NASA Space Grant Consortium has student research fellowships available. We have received a special augmentation of funds this year.


Regular Annual Student Fellowships*

$2,000 for undergraduates
$8,000 for master's students
$16,000 for Ph.D. students

*Advising faculty member must agree to advise student on project and provide 50% cost-sharing support for student from non-federal funds.  Faculty with questions on their requirements can contact Dr. David Long.

Applications materials are due by 3 May 2017 at 5:00 p.m. to Lissa Camacho in 270 CB.

Two (2) letters of recommendation   One-page report of previous year accomplishments  
Official college transcripts (copy of ABC report)   Endorsement from faculty advisor* (should be one of the letters of recommendation)  
Letter describing research project

 Competitive Selection Criteria

  • NASA-related research project (acceptable topic areas can be quite broad)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.4 each semester
  • Clear, well-written proposal with specific goals
  • Good letters of recommendation
  • Continuing fellowships are given priority (must meet minimum criteria)
  • Graduate and undergraduate students are eligible, but graduate research is emphasized
  • MUST be a U.S. citizen and a BYU student
