Our expectation is that all graduate sutdents accepted into the BYU Chemical Engineering Department
will receive substantial financial assistance. The assistance comes in the form of University grants
(especially for first-year students), teaching assistantships, and research assistantships. The
total stipend for first-year graduate students ranges from a minimum of $18,500/year to the university
guideline of 20,760/year, depending upon available funds. All PhD students recieve full-tuition
scholarships as long as they maintain a 3.4 GPA in graduate courses. M.S. students recieve ¼ tuition
scholarships as long as they maintain a 3.4 GPA. Research assistantships are paid from research
contracts awared to the faculty, and supply the majority of the fiancial assistance after the first year.
