ACET mentoring events Oct. 24 & 25 for juniors and seniors

Opportunity to be mentored by successful professionals

Students in the Ira A. Fulton College will have the opportunity to be mentored by successful professionals as part of the college's Advancement Council for Engineering and Technology (ACET) conference October 24 and 25.

ACET members are friends and alumni of the college that have a wide variety of professional and leadership experiences.  Many have served as CEOs, vice presidents or founders of their companies. 

ACET members in attendance at the 2013 conference include: 

  • Mary Peery, former senior vice president, Hewlett Packard
  • Doug Welling, CEO, Jacobsen Construction
  • Phil Carmack, CEO, Aptina Imaging
  • Myron Jones, former president and CEO of NMB Technologies
  • Cal Alexander, former VP Global Operations, BD Medical
  • Nancy & Doug Ferrell, founder and president, respectively, Patrell Engineering
  • Clayton Patch, Process Engineering Manager, IM Flash Technologies
  • ...and many other similarly accomplished individuals and their spouses.

Students can participate in two events:

Mentoring Dinner--Thursday, October 24, 2013 6:00-8:15 p.m., 3220 WSC

Senior students and their spouses, if applicable, are invited to attend a dinner where they are personally mentored at the table by an ACET member from their discipline. Dinner will be followed by one  50-minute breakout session where students can ask ACET members questions about a variety of topics. Dress is professional.  Please visit to register for the senior event by Oct 15. 

Department Activity--Friday, October 25, 2013 1:00-2:00 p.m., Various locations

Each department and the School of Technology will host their own mentoring events for junior-level students.  The ACET members will provide students with advice on a variety of topics, including career preparation, leadership and more.  Dress is business casual.  Space is limited, so please check with your department to register.
