Brigham Young University Mechanical Engineering Professor, Dr. Brent L. Adams, has been elected a Fellow of the ASM International Society. Dr. Adams will be presented with this honor at the ASM’s Materials Solutions Conference and Exposition on October 19, 2004 in Columbus, Ohio for his contributions to the study of microstructure, including advances in representation, stereology and the development of Orientation Imaging Microscopy (OIM). ASM International established the honor of Fellow of the Society in 1969, to provide recognition of members for distinguished contributions in the field of materials science and engineering, and to develop a broadly based forum for technical and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the Society.
rientation Imaging Microscopy (OIM) was invented by Dr. Adams and his research team at Brigham Young University and Yale. OIM has become a standard procedure in over 400 laboratories in more than 35 countries worldwide.
