BYU to host events for Engineering and Technology Week 2017

The BYU Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology will host events, tours and competitions in honor of Engineering and Technology Week Tuesday, Feb. 21 – Friday, Feb. 24.  IM Flash Technologies is sponsoring all 2017 ET Week events. 

The Thursday events are free and open to the public.

Public Event

Thursday, Feb. 23

The college’s clubs will provide several interactive activities for middle and high school students at the EngTech Expo. Students will get a hands-on experience with science and technology through activities like designing and launching rockets, making ice cream with liquid nitrogen, programming Lego Mindstorms, controlling toy cars with their brain waves, and much more. They will also get to tour the college’s labs to see real engineering and technology in action.

The BYU EngTech Expo shows how fun and exciting STEM fields can be! The college hopes to increase pre-college students’ appreciation for engineering. There will be three sessions at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. in the WCS Garden Court.

College Events

Students in the Ira A. Fulton College are invited to participate in a service project and a faculty versus student competition. These events are open to students and faculty in the college.

Wednesday, Feb. 22

The service project will include building an obstacle course for the underwater robotics club for their upcoming competition for middle school students. The service project will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Clyde Building Lounge.  Free pizza will be provided. 

Friday, Feb. 24

The college will host a game night competition between its faculty and students. The competition goes from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will take place in the Clyde Building Lounge. The college will also honor this year’s favorite faculty members from each department as voted by the students. Guests will also get dinner from Costa Vida. Tickets are $5 each or 2 for $8, and can be purchased in 270 CB through Feb. 23.  Cash and signature card accepted.
