Shown at the right are student Shrinivas Lokare, Dr. Larry Baxter, Dr. Dale Tree, and student Dave Dunnaway. Shown also are probes used in their experiments. These four, along with others, authored a winning paper for the Science in Thermal and Chemical Biomass Conversion Conference in Victoria BC. The conference website is www.stcbc.com.

Thier paper took second place in competition against approximately 150 others submitted at the conference.

This conference is now well established as the premier international research meeting in all aspects of thermal and chemical biomass conversion, and serves to provide a global forum in this area for all those involved in research as well as those interested in following developments in this increasingly important topic. .

Authors included both faculty and students working across departmental lines. The authors were presented with a somewhat unusual award, a stylized Orca executed in glass(shown at left).
