Five BYU engineering students recently received scholarships from the Ray Zinn Family Endowed Scholarship Fund in Engineering and Technology. Each student received at least $1,000 each semester of the 2016-2017 school year.
The requirements for the scholarships are that students must be juniors or seniors pursuing their undergraduate degree in the Ira A. Fulton College, not receiving any other scholarship awards during the current academic year, and be financially responsible for their own support. The recipients are:
- Boston Barham, Mechanical Engineering
- Max Tarver, Mechanical Engineering
- Natalia Brown, Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation
- Taylor Bryant, Construction and Facilities Management
- Evan Chrisney, Electrical Engineering
Four out of the five recipients were able to express their gratitude to Ray and DeLona Zinn in person at a breakfast meeting. The students were able to discuss with the couple their future plans and how the scholarship money has helped them and their families. Chrisney said meeting Ray Zinn was a wonderful experience.
“I was able to see this incredible man in person, and also meet the others who have benefited from his kindness,” Chrisney said. “I was thankful to hear Mr. Zinn’s story in person and also hear from his wife.”
