On Mar. 31, Julie Crockett, associate professor of mechanical engineering, will deliver the 2016 Alice Louise Reynolds Women-In-Scholarship Lecture. Her presentation, entitled Bouncing and Boiling Droplets on Slippery Superhydrophobic Surfaces, will be at 2 p.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library Auditorium.
Crockett’s presentation topic is based on her work involving extremely waterproof surfaces. Possible applications include self-cleaning solar panels, bio-medical devices, hulls of ships, airplane wings, and much more. View video of these surfaces above.
The Alice Louise Reynolds Women-in-Scholarship Lecture was established to honor Alice Louise Reynolds, who served on the committee that provided the beginnings of the Harold B. Lee Library. She devoted many years to the realization of her dream for a large, comprehensive university research library at BYU. The effects of her unselfish service are still felt at the Harold B. Lee Library and at BYU.
