BYU Applied BioMechanical Engineering

BABEL is a research group that uses Biomechanical Engineering to vastly improve human life. Through its research, new compliant mechanisms are designed to alleviate lower back pain.

Here at BYU they have designed two devices capable of mimicking the complex biomechanics of the human spine. The Flex-BACTM, an artificial disc, is designed to replace the natural disc. The FlexSuReTM is designed to off-load the disc allowing it to heal itself.
