The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the field of environmental engineering and help you to begin to develop some of the tools necessary to perform work in this field.
In terms of the department objectives, you will be developing the following competencies in this course, as defined in our list of department objectives:
6.2 Understand and apply the basic principles of environmental engineering.
6.2.1 Understand general ecological principles, particularly as they relate to air, land and water quality and pollution.
6.2.2
Understand the basic principles of pollution assessment, management and control
as they relate to air, land and water
quality.
6.2.3
Understand and be able to make calculations for energy and mass balances for
environmental areas and treatment
systems of interest.
6.2.4
Understand the principles and approaches use in Environmental Impact Assessments
for areas affected by mans
activities/engineering projects.
6.2.5 Understand the main types and categories of pollution treatment processes and treatment systems.
