Each team’s quadrotor must fulfill the following requirements:
1. The entire structure, including the base, landing gear, motors, propellers, and protective shields, must fit inside a 90 cm (diameter) by 30 cm (height) cylindrical volume.
2. The sensitive components (autopilot, camera, etc.) must be adequately protected from damage that may occur as a result of collisions or falls. The protective measures must be approved before the first untethered flight.
3. To prevent injury to bystanders or damage to the propellers, protective shielding must be approved and in place before the Feb. 22 practice competition. As a practical matter, this should be in place prior to measuring the quadrotor’s mass moments of inertia, which will take place on the week of Feb. 4-8.
4. All wiring, connectors, etc., must be clean and well-designed.
