Each teams need to decide a topic for presentation representing the Information Technology career field. The tools demonstrated in class using: http://www.lib.byu.edu/ may serve as a resource using the Compendex search engine. Other resources are readily available depending on the topic.
For those who remain undecided I will list five areas of interest that may be selected. If any of these areas are selected they will need to be presented on the basis that will inform, if not instruct, the class on the topic content using examples. The five topics are:
1. The perception of Information Technology as a career profession in corporate operations.
2. A paper that discusses good and bad comparisons of programming code using: javascript, php, xml, and and 'C'. This paper will list routines supported by comments in columnar format.
3. A paper that introduce UNIX as a programming language for use in system administration. Paper will review a set of basic code instructions.
4. The paper will include a model and supporting code associated with a MySQL database linked to a dynamic web site. The paper will display and functional flow chart and actually code a small working example.
5. The paper will develop examples of web templates, and cascading style sheets, with application examples and usability factors associated with both processes.
Realizing the strengths of the many students enrolled in IT 101, I view these topics as feasible and beneficial by instruction to all class members.
