About the TLF

A Message from TLF Director Brent Strong

The Technology Leadership Forum facilitates the development of leadership skills in manufacturing students. Its areas of focus and activities include:

  • Provide practical training and internship experiences.
  • Provide professional advisement and guidance.
  • Improving creativity in manufacturing enterprises.
  • Developing leadership skills in manufacturing.
  • Advising and influencing the continuing improvement of the MET curriculum.
  • Moving invented products into the marketplace.
  • Implementing leadership into manufacturing education.
  • Solving problems of international manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing in underdeveloped countries.
  • Foster understanding of global manufacturing.

The TLF practicum (MGF 399R) provides the opportunity for BYU manufacturing students to work directly with executives of small manufacturing firms through a term long internship. The program runs during the spring and summer terms, and after its first season, students have nothing but good things to say about their work experience at such companies as Intel, ProModel, and Toyota.
