The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is a national organization
founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed
by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization
of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community.

Dr. Richard Selfridge will be serving as the faculty advisor to SHPE.  The SHPE club chapter has actively participated in campus service and leadership roles for many years.  Most recently the SHPE chapter has attended the National Technical Career Conference (NTCC) conferences in New Orleans (2003), Chicago (2004), Dallas (2005), Orlando (2006), and Denver (2007) and are scheduled to attend the Philadelphia, PA (2007) conference.  

The objective of SHPE-BYU is to promote the academic excellence of Hispanics students and to serve the community.

BYU Chapter is actively affiliated with  the SHPE national organization.  Come join in the activities now.
