Engineering & Technology Students,

Engineering week is here! Starting Tuesday, February 20 through Friday, February 23, the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology will be celebrating Engineering Week, along with the rest of the nation.

Tuesday—February 20

  • Club Booths
    • 12-2 p.m. in the Clyde Building Lounge
    • Showcase of engineering & technology student chapters and clubs including nitrogen ice cream and Formula SAE.
  • Navy Flight Simulator—Open to all students
    • All week in Brigham Square.

Wednesday—February 21

  • Student-Voted Faculty Awards Banquet
    • 6:30 p.m. in 2260 Harman Building.
    • Purchase tickets by Thursday February 15 in the Dean’s Office (270 CB) or in department offices: $3 single, $5 couple
    • Keynote address by Robert J. Matthews (who worked with Elder McConkie on the Bible Dictionary)
    • Performance by Noteworthy (an a capella group)
    • Menu: chicken cordon bleu, sirloin steak, white chocolate & raspberry cheesecake, and a chocolate turtle cake
  • Navy Flight Simulator—Open to all students
    • All week in Brigham Square
  • Thursday—February 22

    • Engineering and Technology Competitions—Entry open to all students
      • 12 p.m. in Clyde Lounge
      • Balsa Bridge Competition (Cash prizes awarded)
      • Kits can be purchased in 368 CB
    • Research Paper Competition
      • Submit papers to 270 CB by Friday, February 16
      • Undergraduate research papers. Come watch the presentations at 5 p.m in 245 CB and learn about research going on at BYU. 1st Prize: $250; 2nd: $150; 3rd: $100
    • Navy Flight Simulator—Open to all students
      • All week in Brigham Square

    Friday—February 23

    • Engineering and Technology Competitions—Entry open to all students
      • 12-2 p.m. in Marigold Quad (area west of Clyde Bldg)
      • Aluminum can airplane competition: Build your own hand-launch glider made of aluminum cans to compete for the longest gliding distance. See rules here (PDF).
      • Coconut cracking competition
      • Prizes range from video iPods to dinner gift certificates.
    • Navy Flight Simulator—Open to all students
      • All week in Brigham Square
