October 9, 2017 - 11:00 am
Tom Ingersoll is a commercial aerospace entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience in the space and communications industry. Most recently he was CEO of Skybox Imaging, leading the company from concept development through the build and launch of two high-resolution imaging satellites. These satellites were the first commercial systems capable of capturing high-definition, full-motion video from space. The company accomplished this at 20% of the cost of equivalent imaging satellites. Tom led the sale of the company to Google, who made an unsolicited bid for the company after examining the quality of the imagery and video.
Previously he was co-founder and CEO of Universal Space Network, a leading provider of global ground station services to the satellite industry. He led the successful sale of the company to a large international satellite services provider. He started his career in the PhantomWorks of McDonnell Douglas Corporation where he led advanced technology projects in satellite and rocket systems.
In addition Tom has extensive experience raising venture capital for early stage commercial space companies having raised over $150M in seed and growth capital.
Tom has a BS in mechanical engineering with honors and an MS in engineering management, both from Brigham Young University. In his spare time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife Pam (who graduated from BYU with a BA in design) and family along with road and mountain biking. The Ingersolls currently reside in Laguna Beach, CA and are the parents of five children.
