Chemical Engineering, Graduate Student
What international experience have you had?
I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Peru as a part of the Global Engineering Outreach (GEO) program. I was not just completing a made-up project but something that had real meaning.
I worked to develop a hand-powered washing machine that would help the women as they washed clothes. The women spent a lot of time washing clothes, leaving them soaking wet and with raw hands.
What have you learned through your experience in engineering?
Participating in this program was life-changing. Not only did I get to see an amazing part of the world, but I also got to interact with a culture that taught me to value what I have and enjoy life no matter my circumstances.
