Parents here are the links to sign up your son and or daughter for the Mapleton Elementary Home Designing in Minecraft and Sketchup Competition/Club. Please be sure to sign your son and or daughter up for the appropriate grade level. 4th grade students will meet on Mondays, 5th grade students will meet on Tuesdays, and 6th grade students will meet on Thursdays, all from 3:30 – 4:45 starting the week of Feb. 22nd, and ending the week of April 31st. Because this is an educational experience AND competition, it would be wise to ensure your son and or daughter don’t miss any of the sessions.
If you have any questions feel free to contact geoffwright[at]byu.edu or the school principal. The registration is limited to 20 students/grade level. This is a free activity/educational learning experience/competition.
Finally, BYU students will teach the Mapleton Elementary students how to design a home in Sketchup, but will not spend much time teaching Minecraft – as most kids have experience with that program. Sketchup however, is a great free 3D modeling tool, but which students will be less familiar with. If you’d like more info on Sketchup please visit their website.
