Well, I was bored this afternoon so I set out to start a club. Not just any club, but a special cycling club. No not a club for special cyclists, (although with the inclusion of Todd and now Angela, that point may come under some debate) but rather a club different from the others. So I present to you the International Berrett Cycling Team (IBCT) comprised of members of the Berrett family who have participated in such events as Moab Mania 2001, The Park City Incident, and the Sundance SuperD. These events have show the world that we are a cycling force to be reckoned with. Our members push themselves to the limits of their abilities. Their dedication can be proved with each scar earned during a race or training ride.

Our newest member, J.J. Troyer, joined us on our most recent trip to Moab, UT. After seeing some pictures of Todd laying in a pool of blood during a past ride in Moab, J.J. feard for his well being. But despite this harrowing event, J.J. decided to join us in Moab. A little unsure of the idea of riding a bike over terrain that would scare most people to walk on, J.J. set out on a borrowed KHS. He was a little cautious at first, but by the end of the first ride, he was jumping rocks like a pro. I'm afraid that during our trip we scared J.J. for life. The incident involved Todd, Josh, and a loss of cycling tights. J.J. won't be able to use diving boards for a while. We hope J.J. will overcome his fears and join us again for another adventure away from the fears of 'spring boards.'

Under the direction of our legal department and after the constant badgering of my sister, She (my gimp sister. I mean that in the best possible way) is now of member of our incredible organization. Angela Berrett Davies is the head of our stationary bike division. Angela has improved the strength of our team by over ten fold. Like Wonder Woman of old, she single-leggedly stopped a speeding car doing over 29.5 mph on the road in front of her humble apartment. Angela didn't kneed to do this, but her concern for the safety of the citizens of her neighborhood outweighed her own well-being. We are counting the days until she'll graduate from her stationary bike to one with training wheels. Keep up the protection, Wonder Angela!

Jeff Berrett is a perfect example; on his maiden ride in Moab, this extraordinary individual tore his ribs apart, decimated the cockpit of his trusty bike, and still had the will to drive himself and his sons home. He only went to the hospital after his wife forced him too.

Andy Berrett has been the team's staple mechanic and part supplier. His negotiating and 'yoinking' skills are well beyond his age. He 'yoinked' a chain tensioner from the Burg, installed it on his own bike, and continues to use it. Andy's abilities extend beyond 'yoinking' and mechanical knowledge, Andy is also the staple of our trials/death team. Andy's skills and desire to display those skills extends beyond that of anyone else I know. Not even a family eating a picinic dinner from KFC could stop Andy from hoping off a table in the park. The man could fly out of nowhere, land on the table, grab an extra crispy drumstick and bunnyhop off the table in a flash. With all of Andy's trials experience, some migh think he'll grow up to be a laywer, but we know he won't settle that low. (no offense David.)

Josh Berrett is one of our strongest road riders on the team and an excellent photographer. Two experiences come to mind when the name 'Josh' is mentioned. While he was first being introduced to road bike maintenance, he was faced with the difficult task of installing new tubes and tire treads on his speed demon we call the Bianche. (well most of us call it that except Josh 'forgets' to pronounce the 'n' on occasion) After a disheartening ordeal in purchasing treads, Josh set out to install his tubes. I won't go into details, but I will say that after a few hours, he finally realized I told him to do it wrong. The other experience comes from a photo shoot on the Rock Canyon Trail in Provo, UT. We found a section where an 'underneath' shot would be possible. Josh was the only one brave enough to venture under the wheel of Todd. Josh took the shot and we still admire it to this very day. Come this March, Josh will be the second member of our international spoke.

Justin Berrett keeps our international spoke alive with his love of cycling in Europe. Although no one knows what his cycling condition will be when he returns, we are certain we can train him in our ways.

S. Andrew Davies joined our Team during a day of riding in Park City, UT. Without knowing what he was getting himself into, Andrew ventured down the mountain with his brothers-in-law. Considering his previous experience (almost none) he maintained control, a high speed, and only had one embarrassing moment of which I can not divulge information.

David Berrett, a convert from the sport of running, had served our team well. Although, due to lack of funding, his equipment isn't always new or in the best shape when he gets it, he better be glad he has it!!! David offers support to our racers when needed. He has recently started noontime training rides and when asked for a comment on his new training schedule, he replied with, "Get that sock out of my face!" Keep riding hard David.

Kristie Berrett, one of our newest members, is currently under the mentorship of Todd. But since Todd shared all of his biking knowledge with her on their first chair lift ride up the mountain, he is no longer necessary for her advancement in the ranks of the IBCT. Kristie is leading our city/bike path spoke with her semi-slick tires and KHS cruiser. We hope that someday she will ride Rock Canyon with us without the hindrance of brakes.

Alex Berrett has not yet started his training to 'ride with the big dogz', but he is currently managing our empty junior-junior team. Once he feels himself ready, and passes through initiation, he'll be a member of the team he currently manages. Good Luck Alex.

Todd Berrett is one of our strongest members. Not really strong in his cycling ability, but rather in the fact that he has not yet killed himself or others while operating his (my) bike. A good point about Todd is that he started our 'outreach' spoke of the IBCT, while riding his (my) bike without the assistance of his hands. Todd decided to give to give an unsuspecting pedestrian a strong embrace. After the hug, Todd mounted the bike and road off knowing he changed a man's life. Todd also provides hours of senseless amusement, not only during our rides, but most of our post-ride stories involve him, dirt, and a constant lack of control in most cases.

Scott Berrett is the creator and founder of our exciting Team. He is not only the heart and soul of the team, but he also an all around cyclist. He competed in a 13 mile, uphill race this summer in which he rode and conversed with a convict of the State of Colorado. He allied himself with this individual incase we have any legal issues that the 'law' can't handle. He also successfully jumped off of a cliff this summer during the Sundance SuperD (see the 'Death Race' e-mail for more info) although his landing was less than desirable, he came back to take an impressive third place without the use of his right shoulder. Scott also competed in the 24 Hours of Moab endurance race where he provided comic relief to riders on the last long climb when his shorts got caught on his Koobie saddle and went into 'half-mast' position.

Our team is looking strong for the upcoming year. Any donations can be sent to me at my home address.
