The addition
of these metals to energetic materials creates complications when they are reused as fuel.
The main problem associated with the addition of metal is NOx production. The MFC is working on modeling some of these
processes to reduce these problems so that the metals in energetic material may be
utilized as a fuel source.
Aerosol
Formation: Aerosol formation
at hypersonic speeds represents a challenging research area.
Aluminum
Flakes: Aluminum
flakes boost the thrust of rocket motors and present an interesting combustion
challenge.
