Name Score
1. (3) What specific council given by John Tanner do you believe will be useful to you in your career as an engineer.
2. (3) What specific council given by Dean Chabries do you believe will be useful to you in your career as an engineer.
3. (3)How do you believe that Walt Jones would have responded if he were confronted by the ethical dilemma that Robert Williams , the structural engineer for TRUESTEEL was confronted with? State the cannon of a code of ethics that applies in this situation.
4. (3) How do you believe that Lee Wimmer would have responded if he were confronted by the ethical dilemma that the young environmental engineer for ZCORP was confronted with? State the cannon of a code of ethics that applies in this situation.
5. (3) Terry Turnick, in his article Public versus Client Interests - An Ethical Dilemma for Engineers stated that "the client-engineer bond also tends to promote economy over conscience." He suggests at least four ideas to combat this problem. Name one of these ideas and comment why you think this ideas is a good or bad solution.
6. (4) The British Colonel Nickolsen, in the movie Bridge on the River Kwai had many ethical choices and responses. Considering the three layers of engineering ethical behavior presented in the article Ethics in the Field (i.e. 1- Preprofessional, 2- Professional and 3- Principled Professional), specify the layer that the colonel responded in each of the situations listed below and comment why you believe the response was at that level. If you didn't view this video, come and talk with me to get a synopsis of the situation.
a. Refusing to have he or his officers work
b. Suggesting relocating of the bridge to a site that was more suitable for construction.
c. Deciding to build the best bridge possible
d. Having his officers and sick prisoners work to complete the bridge on time.
5. (9) Case Study
Develop a case study, related to an engineering situation, that has a conflict between being legal, being ethical, and being moral. Summarize the case by presenting what you think is the proper response for the situation. Be as original as you can - in other words, don't just repeat a case that we have studied however you can use things that you have learned from the cases studied this semester to develop your case.
8. (2) Complete the blue evaluation sheet and turn it in - no names on it please.
9. (0) In the table below, score problems 1 through 8 ith the score you feel you deserve. I will provide my score and take the average for what will be used to score the final
