High School and New Students

We are excited you are exploring Brigham Young University.  We hope to answer some questions about what high school preparation can do for your college experience.

The Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology has a lot to offer.  Within the college we have 11 undergraduate majors:

After selecting a major, decide which courses to take. Major Academic Plans (MAPS) will help with a suggested sequence of courses. Please note: We do not suggest taking 16-18 credit hours per semester but rather taking 12-15 and then attend Spring and/or Summer terms to finish other needed credits.

Transfer Students

The Advisement Center is always available as you make the transition to BYU and the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology. If you have transfer credit, the following will help determine which credits will transfer to BYU:
  • Articulation agreements will show what course fulfills the university core.
  • If your school is not shown here, check on MyBYU and type in the Quick Search TRN02
  • For more assistance to university core requirements, email
  • For major requirements, contact your major department.

Please be aware of the opportunities given to new students coming to BYU. New Student Orientation and Freshman Mentoring are programs to help students get the most out of their experience here; we strongly urge you to participate.
