I can do hard things!

When I graduated high school, I had no idea what I wanted to study, but I knew I wanted to study something cool. Engineering looked cool so that's where I went. Now I am in love with engineering, especially manufacturing. I love to solve problems. I like to work with others and to help others. I like to see my ideas come to life.

One of the main reasons I love the manufacturing program, is that you get to see the results of your hard work almost immediately. I get to use my mind and my hands to create products or processes that change the world around us. Creativity is employed every day, and I love it! I didn't think I was creative, but the more knowledge I gain, the more creative I can be. I was afraid that I would spend every day alone, at a desk somewhere, staring at a computer. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! I am out on the floor talking to people and seeing problems firsthand.

I have worked for Walt Disney World designing new carbon fiber costume pieces. I have mapped every inch of a chemical plant in Louisiana, and I have been covered in cayenne pepper at a vitamin manufacturing facility. Because of my knowledge of materials, processes, and people, there is a variety of job functions that I could fill. There are many cool and exciting jobs in manufacturing and especially great people.

It can be challenging at times but so rewarding in the end. Every day is a reminder that I can do hard things!
